Windows 8 users with xbox360

I read all the posts in regards to this subject matter and it appears I’m stuck with win7 if I want to keep using xbox360 extender. If that’s the case, I might as well just use win8 key to upgrade to windows 10. Feels like another page is ripped from WMC chapter but last 8 years of win7 WMC usage was beautiful.

Ready to switch once hdhomerun 6 cablecard tuners come online.

I don't know about Windows 8 but I've got an Xbox 360 working fine on Windows 8.1.

Third party extenders are a different story though.

that was my knowledge of it. Win8 killed third party extenders. Win10 killed everything.

Correct. 3rd party Extenders used a very modified form of RDP (still wish we could hack into this), when WIndows 8 came out they changed RDP security completely and this broke all 3rd party extenders.

Windows 8.1 ( and Windows 10 WMC with the right hacks in place) will only work with the Xbox 360 extender. At least Xbox 360's are cheap now, you can find a used on on places like facebook market place for around $30-50 easy.

Windows 10 WMC is a modified version of 8.1's WMC and has even tigher security, so it's why it would never work with 3rd party extenders..

I can personally vouch for the fact that the 360 works as an extender in both standard windows 8 and 8.1. I ran a 360 extender in standard windows 8 from launch until 8.1, and have had 8.1 since then. I would personally go to 8.1 if the 360 extender is important to you and hold off on windows 10 as long as possible, because getting extenders to work in 10...is well...dont bother trying.
