Vizio S4251w-B4 soundbar and Media Center remote.
Has anyone been able to get the Microsoft media center remote to learn the volume commands from the Vizio remote?
I just bought the soundbar and love it, but having two remotes is a pain. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this and what you have done to remedy it.
thanks,
Eric

I'm not sure what model # sound bar mine is but I had no problem programming a media center remote for it.

If you have the Dell version of the remote, without the TV power button, it is non-programmable.

Thanks, guys.
My remote is a microsoft remote. I have no problem programming the power, volume and channel buttons for my TV... which, ironically enough, is a Vizio. For whatever reason, it won't accept the soundbar's remote settings.

Silly questions:
Have you tried new batteries in both remotes and also tried learning the codes in a dark room?

thanks, Holidayboy.
I have tried new batteries, but not a completely dark room. I have a very dim TV room, but I'll try it in a totally dark room next.
Thanks for the idea!

Somewhat unrelated, but please do report back what you think of these speakers... I was considering getting these or the 52" variant myself. I've been using the logitech z5450 wireless speakers for years, but it's starting to seem like a dinosaur... But I can't fathom going back to wired speakers. Plus I like the subwoofer-in-the-back concept

I really like the speakers, however, they take a little getting used to. You adjust volume, surround sound, treble, bass, etc. from the remote. The screen on the remote is rather dark and has no backlight. Having said that, the sound is great compared to the speakers on the TV. My wife is extremely happy that it has Bluetooth and she can play all her music wirelessly and hear it throughout the house.
I would definitely recommend these speakers.

P.S. I picked them up at Sams Club for $228.00. They are usually $278.00, but they have a sale that goes through today 10/13/2014. I think the 54" is $296.00 after a $90.00 instant rebate and ends on 10/31/2014.

Nice! Just noticed that Amazon has a similar discount too if you're a Prime Member. It's very tempting...

I think I remedied the remote issue. I pulled out my Acoustic Research remote and programmed it for use with my soundbar. The family doesn't like the Acoustic Research remote, but if they want to use the soundbar, they'll learn to like the AR remote!!

I don't remember what I was trying to program, but once had to program a universal and then teach the MS remote from that.
