I have now received my second letter from Spectrum/Charter warning me that cable card support is going away in the future as their future equipment upgrades will not support it. Sounds like a smoke screen to get rid of having to support cable cards. Also it came from the director of marketing...

They already don't support protected programming on cablecards, for over a year now. The tuning adapter is useless.

So something that’s becoming a growing fear for me is the shut down of ATSC 1.0 and whether or not 3.0 will work with WMC and windows 7, I am assuming that it won’t at all and that scares me, Does anybody think that it might be possible to get it to work?

Sadly after moving to a different state, ditching cable for OTA and then finally not being willing to shoehorn WMC into windows 10, I ditched my WMC while home system and went Roku with a table quad OTA DVR.

I still think WMC was the best thing out there... But streaming services & YouTube TV, etc...

OK, this will cement my move from WMC to Tivo.

I like my automatic commercial skip. It's not 100% perfect, but I really like it. Tivo does hand-built commercial markers, by humans; therefore, they are 100% accurate. If the interface lets me say, just do it, then superb.

Way back in WMC-land, I tried using an add-on app called PlayOn .

The PlayOn app was supposed to be able to record stuff from streaming sites like Netflix. My experience back then was hit-and-miss. Mostly miss.

Nowadays, there is a software called Channels DVR , and there is an app for Channels...

I have well over 6300 movies and noticed some are missing ! I am the only one allowed to add or delete Movies to my NAS is there a program that can scan my Library to give me a record what I have and so I can check it again in 6 months to see if any disappeared ?

I have given it a good fight. WMC was awesome for years. but the inconsistent and horrible Rovi data has just about pushed me over the edge.....

A new TiVo is on its' way, but I am not 100% sure. Talk me out of keeping the TiVo!!

I'm having some weird issue with my WMC rig all of a sudden, but it's not the biggest deal in the world now that the season is over. So, I decided to play with the Plex DVR setup.

As I changed to a GE730 video card I checked some of the HTPC vitals. Noticed than when playing bluray that the CPU is ~50% loaded.
Granted my system is getting old. I use a Intel Core2 Duo E7500 Wolfdale Dual-Core 2.93 GHz CPU with the Ge730 GPU. PowerDVD 15.
Playing recorded HD is max 10% CPU....

I remember recording SD content using SageTV before WMC. Guests were amazed I had recorded shows and could skip commercials. I built my win7 WMC box and it was part of our family for years.
