Cable Card Support going away on Spectrum

I have now received my second letter from Spectrum/Charter warning me that cable card support is going away in the future as their future equipment upgrades will not support it. Sounds like a smoke screen to get rid of having to support cable cards. Also it came from the director of marketing...

They already don't support protected programming on cablecards, for over a year now. The tuning adapter is useless.

So something that’s becoming a growing fear for me is the shut down of ATSC 1.0 and whether or not 3.0 will work with WMC and windows 7, I am assuming that it won’t at all and that scares me, Does anybody think that it might be possible to get it to work?

Gary I've had your great guide service for WMC ever since MS dropped sending guide updates and I love it. A few days ago It quit updating. I opened EPG123 and there was an error message. I thought maybe I had to log in but it was not getting a response, I tried several PS's that I use but none of...

I got it fixed. All I had to do was Save and Exit and it updated the guide. Thanks to all who helped me.

I've been using WMC for about a decade now with a 4 tuner Ceton. I used SageTV before that. I've got about 20 pages of various errors I've run into and documented. I recently ran into a new issue which blew away my tuners and Windows 7 was unable to find them. With all the headaches I've...

OK, this will cement my move from WMC to Tivo.
I like my automatic commercial skip. It's not 100% perfect, but I really like it. Tivo does hand-built commercial markers, by humans; therefore, they are 100% accurate. If the interface lets me say, just do it, then superb.
Yes, it's for only a...

The one big and it is big advantage over set-top boxes or freeview boxes is the amount of storage you can put into a Windows MC. But which one? Someone mentioned elsewhere that a W8.1 bpx was better. I think he/she is right under certain extreme conditions?

My advice, either stick with Windows 7 or jump to windows 10 with the unofficial v8.8.5 or 8.9.
I've built Win7 WMC boxes recently, it's a no-brainer. At home I've got (1) Win7 machine with the built-in WMC, and (1) Win10 machine with the unofficial 8.9.
The problem with Win8.1 is that by then...

After 12+ years of WMC, it's time to move on. With the operating system, WMC program itself, extenders and even the Harmony remotes falling out of support, the writing is on the wall. It's been a good run and seeing how good WMC remains TODAY, it makes you wonder what Microsoft could have done with...

I'm going to go with: just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Unlike a box running VxWorks, a MCE PC is, at its core, a PC.
